Flow Tea — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Shepherd's Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) is a small flowering plant in the mustard family, widely distributed across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It has been used in traditional European and Chinese herbal medicine for centuries, most commonly associated with women's herbal practice. It is one of the classical herbs in the Western herbal tradition used for gynaecological support and has been listed in European pharmacopoeias historically. It has a mild, slightly peppery flavour.
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world, with records of its use dating back to ancient Egypt and India. In Ayurvedic and traditional Middle Eastern women's herbal practice, fenugreek seeds have a long history of use for menstrual support and lactation. It has a distinctive sweet, maple-like aroma and a slightly bitter flavour that blends easily with warming spices.
Coriander Seed (Coriandrum sativum) has been used as a culinary and medicinal ingredient across the Middle East, India, and the Mediterranean for thousands of years. In traditional Ayurvedic and Unani medicine, it is associated with hormonal balance and digestive support. Cinnamon Chips — here from the bark of Cinnamomum species — have been valued in traditional medicine across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe since antiquity and are commonly included in women's herbal blends for their warming character and traditional circulatory associations.
Yes — Yellow Mustard Seed is a declared allergen under Australian food standards (one of the 14 major allergens). If you or your customers have a mustard allergy or sensitivity, this blend is not suitable. The Herbal Connection makes no allergen-free claims and notes that trace elements from farming practices may also be present.
Yes — Organic Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) is naturally caffeinated. Green tea generally contains less caffeine than black tea. The remaining six botanicals contain no caffeine. This blend is not suitable for those avoiding caffeine entirely.
Elderberries (Sambucus nigra) are the small dark berries of the elder tree, native to Europe and used in folk medicine across the British Isles and continental Europe for centuries. Historically consumed as a syrup, cordial, or tea, they have a tart, fruity flavour and a distinctive deep purple-black colour that contributes visual appeal to the blend. They are one of the most well-known berries in European botanical tradition.
Add one heaped teaspoon to a teapot or infuser. Pour water at around 85–90°C over the blend — slightly off the boil to preserve the green tea's more delicate notes. Steep for 4–6 minutes and strain into your cup. The blend has a warm, spiced character from the cinnamon and fenugreek, with a fruity tartness from the elderberries. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container.
Flow Tea is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes, contract blending, or private label enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.
