Botanical Green Tea Organic — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Sencha (Camellia sinensis) is Japan's most widely consumed green tea, produced through a process of steaming freshly harvested tea leaves to halt oxidation, then rolling and drying them. This steaming process — as opposed to the pan-firing used in Chinese green teas — gives Sencha its characteristic fresh, grassy, slightly vegetal flavour with a subtle sweetness and hint of umami. It brews to a pale golden-green colour and is lighter and more delicate than roasted Japanese teas like Hojicha.
Yes — Sencha (Camellia sinensis) is naturally caffeinated. Green tea generally contains less caffeine than black tea but more than herbal tisanes. The jasmine and rose petal components contain no caffeine. This blend is not suitable for those avoiding caffeine entirely.
Jasmine-scented tea has a history in China stretching back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), though it became particularly prevalent during the Ming Dynasty. The traditional method involves layering fresh jasmine blossoms with green tea leaves overnight so the tea absorbs the flowers' natural fragrance — a process repeated multiple times for premium grades. Jasmine (Jasminum sambac) is one of the most important aromatic plants in Chinese, South Asian, and Southeast Asian cultural and culinary traditions.
Rose petals (Rosa spp.) have been used in Persian, Turkish, and South Asian culinary and herbal traditions for centuries and were historically prized as much for their fragrance as for their flavour. In this blend, the organic rose petals contribute a soft, sweet floral note and visual elegance — their delicate pink hue contrasting beautifully with the green Sencha leaves — while gently complementing rather than competing with the jasmine's more assertive perfume.
Yes — all three ingredients are certified organic: the Sencha Green Tea, Jasmine, and Rose Petals. The blend is put together by The Herbal Connection using local and imported certified organic ingredients. Add one teaspoon to a teapot or infuser and pour water at around 75–80°C — not fully boiling. Green tea brewed with boiling water can become bitter and astringent; water just off the boil preserves the delicate floral and vegetal notes. Steep for 3–4 minutes, strain, and enjoy. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container — green tea is particularly sensitive to light, heat, and strong odours.
Botanical Green Tea Organic is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes, contract blending, or private label enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.
