Kidney Support Tea Organic — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is one of the oldest surviving plant species on Earth — a living relic of the Carboniferous era — and has been used medicinally since ancient Greek and Roman times. It features prominently in traditional European herbalism and is particularly associated with the urinary system and connective tissue support due to its exceptionally high silica content. It has a mild, slightly grassy flavour and is one of the most common herbs in kidney and urinary blends in Western herbal practice.
Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is a flowering tree endemic to subtropical Australia, found naturally in the coastal rainforests of Queensland. It is considered one of the most lemon-scented plants in the world — its leaves contain an extraordinarily high concentration of citral, giving them an intensely fresh, clean lemon fragrance that far exceeds that of lemon itself. It has been used by Aboriginal Australians as a food plant for thousands of years and is now widely celebrated as one of Australia's most distinctive native botanicals. In this blend it provides a bright, uplifting citrus character that contrasts beautifully with the earthy root herbs.
Both Nettle (Urtica dioica) and Dandelion Leaf (Taraxacum officinale) are among the most nutritionally dense herbs available and have histories of use in European herbal medicine stretching back centuries. Nettle is one of the most mineral-rich herbs known, containing iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, and has long been associated with kidney and urinary support as well as general nourishment. Dandelion Leaf is a well-known diuretic herb in traditional European practice — its leaves have been eaten and used medicinally since medieval times, and it features in herbal traditions across Europe, Asia, and North America.
Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis) has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. It is particularly rich in mucilage — a gel-like, water-soluble fibre that coats and soothes mucous membranes when steeped in water. In the context of a kidney and urinary blend, marshmallow root provides a soothing, coating quality that is a recognised feature of Western urinary herbal traditions. It contributes a mild, slightly sweet, earthy flavour to the blend.
Yes — Ginger contains naturally occurring sulphites. Sulphites are one of the 14 major food allergens declared under Australian food standards. If you or your customers have a sulphite sensitivity, please take note. The Herbal Connection makes no allergen-free claims and notes that trace elements from farming practices may also be present.
Yes — completely. All seven botanicals are herbal ingredients with no caffeine and no derivation from the Camellia sinensis tea plant. Kidney Support Tea is naturally caffeine-free and suitable for consumption at any time of day.
Add one heaped teaspoon to a teapot or infuser. Pour freshly boiled water that has cooled slightly over the blend and steep for 5–7 minutes — the marshmallow root and horsetail benefit from a longer steep to fully release their character. Strain into your cup and enjoy warm or allow to cool for a chilled drink. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container.
Kidney Support Tea Organic is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes, contract blending, or private label enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.
