About

Our Elderflower Herb consists of the dried, delicate blossoms of the Sambucus nigra tree. These creamy-white flowers are prized for their unique, sweet, and floral-fruity aroma, famously used in cordials, teas, and desserts.

As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.

Directions of Use

1. Use 1-2 teaspoons of dried elderflowers per cup (250ml).

2. Pour over near-boiling water (around 90-95°C) to protect the delicate floral compounds.

3. Steep covered for 5-10 minutes. Covering the cup traps the volatile oils and aroma.

4. Strain and enjoy. Tastes delicious on its own, with a slice of lemon, or sweetened with honey.

5. Can also be used to infuse syrups, custards, or baked goods with a floral note.

Flower icon

What is Elderflower Powder?

Elderflower Powder is made from the finely ground, dried blossoms of the Elder tree (Sambucus nigra). It captures the unique floral aroma of the flower in a convenient, versatile powder form.

Flavour icon

What does Elderflower Powder taste like?

It has the same sweet, floral, and slightly fruity (like lychee or pear) flavour as the whole flowers. As a powder, it is very potent and mixes easily into drinks and batters, adding a fragrant, summery note.

Usage icon

How do you use Elderflower Powder?

The fine powder is ideal for blending. Whisk 1/2 to 1 teaspoon into smoothies, lattes, or yoghurt. It can also be sifted into flour for baking cakes or biscuits to add a subtle floral flavour.

Caffeine-free icon

Is Elderflower Powder caffeine-free?

Yes, Elderflower Powder comes from a herbal blossom and is naturally 100% caffeine-free. It's perfect for adding to relaxing evening lattes or caffeine-free smoothies.

Flower vs Berry icon

What's the difference between Elderflower and Elderberry?

They both come from the same plant, the Elder tree (Sambucus nigra). The Elderflower is the delicate, sweet, white blossom that appears in spring. If left on the tree, these flowers turn into the Elderberry, which is a dark purple, tart berry harvested in autumn.

Cordial icon

Can I make a clear cordial with the powder?

No, the powder will not create a clear cordial like whole flowers do. It will make the liquid cloudy. It is better suited for creamy drinks (like lattes) or for infusing into syrups that are strained, or for adding to recipes where a clear liquid isn't needed.
