About

Our Colic Natural Organic Tea is a gentle, soothing blend of certified organic herbs. Combining the potent carminative (gas-relieving) properties of Fennel, Aniseed, and Caraway with the nutritive support of Nettle, this tea is traditionally used to settle digestive unrest and calm tummies. Ideally suited for nursing mothers.

As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.

Directions of Use

1. Use 1 teaspoon of the blend per cup (250ml) of water.

2. Pour boiling water (100°C) over the herbs.

3. Important: Cover the cup and steep for 10 minutes to trap the essential oils from the seeds.

4. Strain and sip slowly. It has a naturally sweet, anise-like flavour.

5. For Nursing Mothers: Drink 1-3 cups daily to help pass the soothing properties through breastmilk.

Colic Natural Organic Tea — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Use 1 teaspoon per 250ml cup. Pour fully boiled water (100°C) over the blend. Cover the cup immediately and steep for 10 minutes — this step is important as it traps the volatile essential oils released from the seeds, which would otherwise escape as steam. Strain and sip slowly. The tea has a naturally sweet, warming, anise-like flavour and is pleasant without sweetener.
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum), and Caraway (Carum carvi) form what herbalists often call the "classic trio" of carminative seeds — botanicals traditionally used to address digestive discomfort. All three are rich in aromatic volatile oils (particularly anethole in fennel and aniseed, and carvone in caraway) that give them their characteristic anise-like flavour. Their use for digestive wellness is documented across ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Ayurvedic traditions, and they remain among the most widely used digestive botanicals in European herbal practice today.
Nettle (Urtica dioica) is one of the most nutritionally dense herbs used in traditional European herbalism, well-known for its high mineral content — including iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It has been consumed as a food and medicinal herb across Europe, Asia, and North America for thousands of years, and is particularly associated with nourishing and restorative blends. In this blend, Nettle provides a nutritive counterpart to the strongly aromatic seed herbs.
Yes — completely. Fennel Seed, Nettle Leaf, Aniseed, and Caraway Seed are all herbal botanicals with no caffeine and no derivation from the Camellia sinensis tea plant. This blend is naturally caffeine-free and suitable for consumption at any time of day.
Yes — all four ingredients are certified organic: Organic Fennel Seed, Organic Nettle Leaf, Organic Aniseed, and Organic Caraway Seed. The blend is produced at The Herbal Connection from imported certified organic ingredients. The Herbal Connection is a Certified Organic business operating from our 5-Star Eat Safe licensed facility on the Gold Coast.
This blend is traditionally associated with nursing mothers in European herbal practice. However, this product is sold as a food only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. You should always consult your midwife, GP, or a qualified healthcare professional before consuming herbal products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Do not give herbal teas directly to infants without first consulting a paediatrician or qualified healthcare professional.

Store below 23°C in a sealed, dry, dark container away from moisture and direct light. The volatile oils in the seeds are aromatic and sensitive — airtight storage is essential to preserve their potency. Shelf life is up to 24 months when stored correctly.
