3 Years ago Renae and I planted our first Lemon Myrtle tree. We have also added Crepe Myrtle and Christmas Myrtle to the garden but it is our Lemon Myrtle that we get to enjoy most regularly through its amazing flavour as a tea.
Organic Lemon Myrtle tea, a fragrant herbal brew, has gained popularity for its unique flavor and potential health benefits. Originating from Australia, this tea is made from the leaves of the Lemon Myrtle tree, known scientifically as Backhousia citriodora.
How to Make Lemon Myrtle Tea
Ingredients & Equipment:
- 1-2 teaspoons of dried Organic Lemon Myrtle leaves
- 250 ml (1 cup) of boiling water
- Teapot or infuser
- Honey or sweetener (optional)
Step-by-Step Preparation:
- Boil Water: Begin by boiling your water. For the best flavor, use filtered water.
- Add Organic Lemon Myrtle: Place 1-2 teaspoons of dried Lemon Myrtle leaves into your teapot or infuser. Adjust the amount based on how strong you prefer your tea.
- Steep: Pour the boiling water over the Lemon Myrtle leaves and allow them to steep for 5-10 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavor.
- Serve: Strain the tea into a cup. You may add honey or a sweetener of your choice to enhance the flavor.
- Enjoy: Sip your Lemon Myrtle tea and enjoy the unique citrusy flavor!
Creating Lemon Myrtle tea is a simple process that offers a refreshing and aromatic beverage. Experiment with the steeping time to find your perfect blend.
