Red Rose Petal Powder — Freshly Milled Per Order

Red Rose Petal Powder (Rosa gallica) — conventional red rose petals freshly milled to order at our Gold Coast facility. The most important thing to understand about this product is the "freshly milled per order" distinction: unlike pre-milled rose powder that has been sitting in a warehouse for an indeterminate period, this powder is produced specifically for each order from whole dried red rose petals. Fresh milling means the colour is more vivid, the fragrance is more present, and the volatile aromatic compounds in the essential oils are better preserved than in aged pre-milled product. For food and cosmetic applications where colour vibrancy and fragrance intensity matter, freshly milled is meaningfully superior.

The powder is a deep crimson-pink fine powder with the characteristic sweet, classic rose fragrance and a mildly sweet, floral flavour. Conventional (not certified organic) — an accessible price point for applications where certified organic status is not required. No known allergens. Naturally caffeine-free. Available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk. This product is sold as a food only.

Red Rose Petal Powder — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

When dried plant material is milled to powder, the milling process dramatically increases the surface area of the product — every particle is now exposed to air, light, and heat rather than protected within the intact petal structure. This accelerates the degradation of the volatile aromatic essential oils responsible for fragrance, and the pigments responsible for colour. Pre-milled rose powder that has been sitting in a container for weeks or months will have noticeably faded colour and diminished fragrance compared to freshly milled product from the same source petals. By milling to order, The Herbal Connection ensures you receive the product at its best — maximum colour vibrancy, most present fragrance, and highest aromatic compound content. For food, baking, and cosmetic applications where colour and fragrance are the primary functional properties, this difference is meaningful and measurable.
Rose petal powder is a versatile fine-format ingredient for culinary applications where whole petals are impractical or where even colour distribution is required. Baking: fold into icing, royal icing, buttercream, shortbread, and macaron shells for a pink-to-rose colour and subtle floral flavour — start with 1–2 teaspoons per batch and adjust to colour intensity desired. Chocolate and confectionery: dust over handmade chocolates, truffles, and petit fours; mix into white chocolate ganache for colour and flavour; roll truffles in the powder for a dramatic rose-dusted finish. Beverages: stir into warm milk for a rose-tinted rose latte; add to smoothies; use in rose-flavoured syrups. Middle Eastern baking: use alongside rosewater in baklava, Turkish delight, and rice pudding preparations. Finishing: dust over dessert plates as a colour accent; dust over meringues and pavlova before serving.
Rose petal powder has a broad range of natural cosmetic applications. Face masks: mix with clay (kaolin, bentonite) and a small amount of honey or yoghurt for a fragrant floral face mask. Bath and body: add to bath salts, body scrubs (mix with sugar or salt and a carrier oil), and bath soaks for fragrance and pink colour. Natural cosmetics: use as a natural colourant in lip balms, pressed powders, and blushes — the natural pink-red pigment from rose petals provides a soft, natural tone in cosmetic formulations. Dry shampoo: rose powder blended with arrowroot or tapioca starch makes a fragrant dry shampoo base. Note: the conventional (non-organic) powder is suitable for general cosmetic use; for certified organic cosmetic labelling requiring certified organic ingredients, the Organic Red Rose Petal Powder (HTO version) is the appropriate choice.
Because rose petal powder is freshly milled, it is at its best immediately — colour and fragrance will gradually diminish over time once the powder is exposed to air. For best results: transfer immediately to a sealed airtight container (glass is ideal) on receipt. Store below 23°C in a dark location — a cool, dark pantry or refrigerator is ideal. Minimise air exposure each time you open the container — take what you need and reseal promptly. Do not store near heat sources (above the oven, near a stove, or in direct sunlight). Used and stored correctly, the powder will remain usable for 12+ months, with colour and fragrance declining gradually over that period.

The standard sizes listed — 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg — are our regular stocked wholesale pack sizes, but The Herbal Connection is a wholesale supplier and can accommodate bulk orders well beyond these standard sizes. Because this powder is freshly milled per order, larger bulk orders require a short lead time — contact us in advance for large volume requirements. Whether you are a food manufacturer, confectionery producer, cosmetics formulator, bakery, or large-scale buyer, we can discuss pricing and supply arrangements.
