Rainforest Myrtle Tea Blend — 100% Australian Loose Leaf

A proudly Australian two-ingredient blend — Spray-Free Daintree Black Tea (Camellia sinensis, North Queensland) and Organic Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora, NSW) — both grown on Australian soil and brought together in an Earl Grey–inspired, citrus-infused black tea that celebrates two of the country's most distinctive regional botanicals. The Daintree tea delivers a full-bodied, malty black tea base; the lemon myrtle provides an intense, clean, citrus lift that is more vibrant and true-to-lemon than bergamot, with none of the bitterness. The result is a cup that is uniquely and unmistakably Australian.

Please note: this blend contains caffeine from the Daintree Black Tea. No known allergens. Available wholesale in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs.

Rainforest Myrtle Tea Blend — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Daintree Tea (Camellia sinensis) is grown in the rainforest-adjacent region of Far North Queensland — one of the only places in Australia where tea is commercially cultivated at scale. The Daintree rainforest region has a tropical climate, high rainfall, and rich red volcanic basalt soil that produces a tea with a character quite unlike Indian or Sri Lankan black teas — full-bodied, malty, and clean with a slightly earthy finish and without the astringency of Assam. The Daintree tea in this blend is grown on a spray-free farm, making it a clean, Australian-grown black tea base.
Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) is a tall flowering tree endemic to the subtropical rainforests of coastal Queensland and northern New South Wales — it grows nowhere else on Earth. Its leaves contain an extraordinarily high concentration of citral, the same volatile compound that gives lemon its scent, but at levels that far exceed the lemon fruit itself — giving dried lemon myrtle a pure, intensely fresh citrus fragrance. It has been used as a food plant by Aboriginal Australians for thousands of years and is now widely regarded as Australia's signature native botanical. The NSW-grown certified organic lemon myrtle in this blend is sourced from farms within its natural growing range.
Classic Earl Grey uses bergamot oil — extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, a citrus fruit grown primarily in the Calabria region of Southern Italy — to scent black tea. The Rainforest Myrtle blend takes a similar concept but with an entirely Australian identity: lemon myrtle provides the citrus character, replacing bergamot's somewhat floral, slightly perfumed quality with a brighter, cleaner, more intensely lemony note. Where bergamot has a slightly bitter edge, lemon myrtle is pure, fresh, and sweet. The Daintree tea base is also distinctly Australian in character compared to the Sri Lankan Ceylon typically used in Earl Grey.
Yes — Daintree Black Tea (Camellia sinensis) is naturally caffeinated. The caffeine level is moderate, in line with a standard cup of black tea, and will increase with longer steeping times. Lemon myrtle contains no caffeine. This blend is not suitable for those avoiding caffeine entirely.
Yes — the Lemon Myrtle is certified organic. The Daintree Black Tea is grown on a spray-free farm — it does not carry a formal organic certification but is produced without the use of sprays. Both ingredients are Australian grown. The blend is produced by The Herbal Connection — a Certified Organic business operating from our 5-Star Eat Safe licensed facility on the Gold Coast.
Add one teaspoon per 200–250ml to a teapot or infuser. Pour freshly boiled water over the blend and steep for 3–4 minutes — shorter for a lighter, more aromatic cup; slightly longer for a bolder black tea character. Enjoy as-is, with a splash of milk, or with a slice of fresh lemon. Brews beautifully over ice for a refreshing cold drink. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container.
Rainforest Myrtle Tea Blend is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes, contract blending, or private label enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.
