Our Gentian Root Extract Powder is a concentrated 5:1 water extract of Gentiana lutea, the yellow gentian. Approximately five parts of dried root go into every one part of finished powder. Gentian is best known as one of the most intensely bitter botanicals in the world. It has a long history of traditional use in European herbalism as a digestive bitter, and it is a classic flavouring in aperitifs, tonics and cocktail bitters.
