Dried PawPaw Diced — Carica papaya, Thailand

Dried PawPaw Diced (Carica papaya) — papaya fruit sourced from Thailand, dried and diced into small, ready-to-use pieces. "PawPaw" is the Australian and some Asian-market common name for what is internationally known as papaya — Carica papaya, a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America, now cultivated extensively across tropical Southeast Asia, including Thailand, one of the world's leading papaya producers. The dried diced format is convenient for direct incorporation into trail mixes, tea blends, muesli, granola, baked goods, and fruit-based confectionery without any preparation required.

Dried pawpaw has a bright, sweet, tropical flavour — the characteristic soft musk of fresh papaya intensifies and sweetens through drying, producing a candy-like tropical fruit character with a chewy, slightly sticky texture and vivid orange-yellow colour. The diced pieces are a popular inclusion in tropical fruit tea blends, mixed fruit trail mixes, and granola formulations where their vibrant colour and tropical flavour add visual appeal and flavour contrast. Available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk. This product is sold as a food only.

Dried PawPaw Diced — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Yes — in Australian English and across much of Asia, "pawpaw" is the common name for the same fruit that is internationally known as "papaya" (Carica papaya). There is occasional confusion with the North American "pawpaw" (Asimina triloba), which is a completely different fruit from a different plant family — but in Australian and Southeast Asian commercial usage, "pawpaw" always means Carica papaya. This product is dried diced papaya from Thailand, packaged under the Australian common name.
Tea blending: dried pawpaw/papaya is a classic tropical fruit tea inclusion — its bright orange-yellow colour and sweet tropical flavour contribute visually and flavour-wise to fruit tea blends, particularly Hawaiian, tropical, and hibiscus-based blends. It infuses well in both hot and cold applications. Trail mix: a colourful, sweet tropical inclusion in mixed fruit and nut trail mixes — its vivid orange colour provides visual contrast and its sweet-tropical flavour balances richer nut and seed flavours. Muesli and granola: scatter through muesli and granola for tropical character; pairs particularly well with coconut, macadamia, and vanilla-flavoured bases. Baking: fold into tropical-flavoured muffins, scones, and cookies; use in tropical fruit cake formulations. Fruit medleys: combine with diced mango, pineapple, and coconut for tropical mixed fruit blends.
Commercially produced dried papaya/pawpaw commonly contains added sugar (to balance the fruit's natural flavour) and sulphur dioxide (a sulphite preservative used to maintain the vivid orange-yellow colour and extend shelf life). Sulphites are a mandatory declared allergen under FSANZ when present at or above 10mg/kg. Contact us at sales@herbalconnection.com.au for the current batch ingredient declaration and allergen documentation before purchasing, particularly if you are formulating finished food products that require accurate labelling or if you have sulphite sensitivity. We are happy to provide full ingredient and allergen information on request.
Both are popular tropical fruit inclusions in fruit tea blending, but they contribute different characters. Dried pawpaw has a softer, muskier, more floral tropical sweetness — the characteristic papaya flavour is distinctive and recognisable; the vivid orange-yellow colour infuses well into the cup. Dried pineapple has a sharper, more assertive tropical-sweet-tart character with higher acidity; the flavour is more intensely fruity. In blended fruit teas, pawpaw tends to play a softer, background-sweetening role while pineapple provides more flavour punch. Many commercial tropical fruit tea blends include both. Note that Pineapple Diced Dried 6–12mm is currently showing as out of stock on the HC range — contact us for current availability.
Store in a sealed, airtight container below 23°C in a cool, dark, dry location. Dried pawpaw is sticky by nature — the natural sugars and any added sugar can cause pieces to clump together; this does not affect quality and pieces can be separated gently. In warm or humid climates, refrigeration helps maintain texture and prevent further sticking. Keep away from direct sunlight as the vivid orange colour can fade with prolonged UV exposure. Under correct storage conditions, dried pawpaw has a shelf life of 12–24 months depending on the specific product batch and packaging.
The standard sizes listed — 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg — are our regular stocked wholesale pack sizes, but The Herbal Connection is a wholesale supplier and can accommodate bulk orders well beyond these standard sizes. Whether you are a tea blender, trail mix producer, granola manufacturer, health food retailer, or large-scale buyer with ongoing volume requirements, we can discuss pricing and supply arrangements. Contact our wholesale team at sales@herbalconnection.com.au to discuss your specific requirements and to obtain current batch ingredient and allergen documentation.
