Camu Camu Powder Organic — Myrciaria dubia, Peruvian Amazon

Certified Organic Camu Camu Powder (Myrciaria dubia) — fruit powder from the Peruvian Amazon. Camu Camu is a small, cherry-like fruit that grows on shrubs along the riverbanks and flooded forest edges of the Amazon basin. It is one of the most remarkable natural food sources of vitamin C known — fresh camu camu fruit contains up to 3,000mg of vitamin C per 100g of fruit, making it dramatically more concentrated than commonly cited sources like oranges (approximately 50mg per 100g). The dried and milled powder retains a significant concentration of this vitamin C, which occurs naturally in the fruit rather than being added synthetically, giving it a different profile to ascorbic acid isolates.

The powder has a bright, intensely tart, citrus-forward flavour — sharper and more acidic than most fruit powders, and very potent at standard inclusion rates. It is used in functional beverage formulations, vitamin C supplement products, gummy and chewable formats, smoothie powders, and natural health food products where a concentrated natural vitamin C source is required. The vivid pink-purple colour also contributes aesthetic value in finished products. Wild-harvested, certified organic (SCX No. 24041). This product is sold as a food ingredient only.

Camu Camu Powder Organic — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

The extraordinary vitamin C concentration in camu camu is a natural feature of the Myrciaria dubia species — up to 3,000mg per 100g of fresh fruit — and appears to be an evolutionary adaptation to the intense UV radiation and oxidative stress of the Amazon rainforest environment. The fruit accumulates ascorbic acid at concentrations 30–60 times higher than oranges, making it one of the most concentrated natural food sources of vitamin C on the planet. This vitamin C occurs naturally as part of the whole fruit matrix alongside bioflavonoids and other phytochemicals, rather than as synthetic ascorbic acid. When spray-dried into powder, a significant proportion of this vitamin C is retained — the exact level varies by batch and is confirmed in each batch's Certificate of Analysis (CoA).
Camu Camu is primarily used as a natural vitamin C ingredient in functional food and supplement manufacturing. Key applications include: functional beverages — powdered drink mixes, effervescent tablets, RTD functional waters; gummy and chewable vitamin C supplements where a natural-source vitamin C claim is required; smoothie powder blends — the tart flavour pairs well with tropical fruits; natural health food products — bars, balls, and raw treats; cosmetic and topical formulations where vitamin C as a natural food ingredient is listed. The vivid pink-purple colour also contributes aesthetic value. Standard inclusion rates are low (0.5–5%) due to the powder's intensity.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is one of the more sensitive nutrients — it degrades with exposure to heat, light, oxygen, and moisture. Store camu camu powder below 23°C in a sealed, airtight container away from direct light. Reseal immediately after use. For bulk quantities, decant into smaller portions rather than repeatedly accessing a large container, to minimise oxygen exposure. Cold storage (refrigerator) further extends the stability of the vitamin C content for long-term stock. For manufacturing applications where vitamin C content is a label claim, always reference the current batch CoA rather than general published figures, as natural variation between harvests exists.
