About
Blue Gum (Eucalyptus leucoxylon), also known as yellow gum, South Australian blue gum or white ironbark, is a native Australian eucalypt found across southern Australia. Our dried Blue Gum leaf is spray-free (not certified organic) and sourced in Australia. The leaves are aromatic with a eucalyptus scent, and eucalyptus leaf is commonly prepared as a herbal infusion. The dried leaf is used as a herbal tea ingredient and by blenders for herbal and native-style mixes. Available in 50g and 250g packs.
As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.
Directions of Use
Dried Blue Gum leaf can be prepared as an infusion. As a general guide:
1. Herbal tea: Steep about ½ to 1 teaspoon of dried leaf in a cup of just-boiled water for 5–10 minutes, then strain. The aroma is strong, so start small and adjust to taste.
2. Blending: Trade customers can blend the dried leaf in small amounts with other herbs and teas.
This product is a dried leaf, not an essential oil. Do not use it as, or substitute it for, eucalyptus oil.

Blue Gum Leaf — FAQs
Answers to common questions about our dried Blue Gum (Eucalyptus leucoxylon) leaf.
Dried Blue Gum leaves (Eucalyptus leucoxylon, yellow gum), a spray-free Australian herb for tea and blending, in 50g and 250g packs.
What is blue gum leaf used for?
Blue Gum (Eucalyptus leucoxylon) is a native Australian eucalypt, and its aromatic leaves can be prepared as an infusion. Our dried leaf is most commonly used as a herbal tea ingredient and in blends. We sell it as a food only and make no health claims. For personalised guidance, please speak with a healthcare professional.
How do I make blue gum leaf tea?
As a general guide, steep about ½ to 1 teaspoon of dried Blue Gum leaf in a cup of just-boiled water for 5–10 minutes, then strain. The aroma is strong, so start small and adjust to taste. If you are unsure whether it suits you, speak with a healthcare professional first.
Is this yellow gum or South Australian blue gum?
Yes. Eucalyptus leucoxylon is known by several common names, including yellow gum, South Australian blue gum, blue gum and white ironbark. It is not the same as Tasmanian blue gum (Eucalyptus globulus), which is a different species. Our leaf is sourced in Australia.
Is this eucalyptus oil, a tree, or seeds?
No. This is dried Blue Gum leaf sold as a food ingredient. It is not an essential oil, a live plant, a seedling, seed or timber. Eucalyptus essential oil is a different, concentrated product and should not be swallowed. For garden trees, a native plant nursery is the best place to start.
Is it the same as other eucalyptus, like Eucalyptus globulus or radiata?
No. There are hundreds of eucalypt species. Eucalyptus leucoxylon (yellow gum), Eucalyptus globulus (Tasmanian blue gum) and Eucalyptus radiata (narrow-leaved peppermint) are different species and can differ in aroma. Our product is Eucalyptus leucoxylon only.
Is blue gum leaf safe? Is it safe for pets?
Blue Gum leaf is sold as a food for people only. We recommend speaking with a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication. Eucalyptus is commonly considered unsuitable for pets, so please keep the leaf away from dogs and cats and ask your vet for advice.
Is your blue gum leaf organic, and where is it from?
Our Blue Gum leaf is sourced in Australia. It is spray-free, but it is not certified organic. We list this clearly so you know exactly what you are buying.
