This crowd pleaser puts a spin on the classic Earl Grey, with the provincial lavender flowers and colorful rose petals.

This fragrant classic is high in protective antioxidants as well as being soothing and relaxing. This simple tea doesn't need much but by adding a squeeze of lemon or putting it over ice changes the experience of this flavoursome tea. We recommend a teaspoon with 200 ml of hoyt water steeped for 2-3 minutes.

Organic French Earl Grey — Loose Leaf Blend

A fragrant, deeply floral take on the classic Earl Grey — Lavender Flowers, Organic Red Rose Petals, and Organic Earl Grey Ceylon OP — blending the bergamot-scented black tea of the English tradition with the lavender and rose petal additions that define the French style. The result is a cup that is at once familiar and distinctly romantic: the smooth, citrus-forward black tea base carries a lavender note that is unmistakably Provençal, softened by the delicate sweetness of red rose petals. Blended with love by The Herbal Connection using local and imported ingredients.

Please note: this blend contains caffeine from the Earl Grey Ceylon OP black tea. Excellent with a squeeze of lemon or served strong over ice. Available wholesale in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs.

Organic French Earl Grey — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Classic Earl Grey is simply black tea scented with oil of bergamot. French Earl Grey — also sometimes called Earl Grey Français — builds on this by adding floral elements, most commonly lavender and rose petals. The result is a more fragrant, visually striking blend that emphasises the floral dimension of the bergamot scent and adds layers of aromatic complexity. It is considered a more romantic, indulgent version of the classic, and is widely popular in French cafés and specialty tea culture globally.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is native to the Mediterranean and has been cultivated in the south of France — particularly in Provence — for centuries, where it is deeply embedded in the regional culinary and cultural identity. Its distinctive, intensely floral and camphor-tinged aroma has made it a staple ingredient in French cooking and confectionery. In herbal traditions, lavender has been used since ancient Roman times as a calming and aromatic botanical, and its use in tea blends reflects both its culinary and botanical heritage.
Earl Grey Ceylon OP uses Ceylon black tea (Camellia sinensis from Sri Lanka) scented with natural bergamot oil. OP stands for Orange Pekoe — a grading term referring to a whole-leaf, orthodox-processed tea. OP grade keeps the leaves intact rather than broken, producing a lighter, more nuanced, less astringent cup than broken grades (BOP). It is the traditional format for fine Earl Grey and delivers a smooth, elegant infusion that allows the bergamot and floral notes to shine without the bitterness of a stronger brew.
Yes — Earl Grey Ceylon OP (Camellia sinensis) is a black tea and naturally caffeinated. The caffeine level is moderate — in line with a standard cup of black tea — and will increase with longer steeping times. The lavender and rose petals contain no caffeine. This blend is not suitable for those avoiding caffeine.
The Organic Red Rose Petals and Organic Earl Grey Ceylon OP are certified organic. The Lavender Flowers are included as a non-organic ingredient. The blend is made by The Herbal Connection — a Certified Organic business — using local and imported ingredients, blended at our 5-Star Eat Safe licensed facility on the Gold Coast.
Add one teaspoon per 200ml to a teapot or infuser. Pour freshly boiled water over the blend and steep for 2–3 minutes — shorter for a lighter, more floral cup, slightly longer for more black tea depth. For iced tea, brew double-strength, then pour over ice and add a slice of lemon. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container — black tea and lavender are both sensitive to heat, moisture, and strong odours.
Organic French Earl Grey is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes, contract blending, or private label enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.
