About

Our Organic Nettle Leaf is one of the most popular traditional herbs, sourced from certified organic growers. Once dried, the leaves lose their famous sting, leaving only a rich, earthy, and full-bodied herbal tea, similar to a deep spinach broth or green tea.

As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.

Directions of Use

1. Use 1-2 heaped teaspoons of the organic herb per cup (250ml).

2. Pour over hot (not boiling) water, around 90-95°C.

3. Cover your cup and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Covering is important to trap the herb's properties.

4. Strain and serve. It is delicious on its own or with a touch of honey.

5. This dried, cut leaf has no sting and is safe to handle.

What is Organic Nettle Leaf?

Organic Nettle Leaf comes from the Stinging Nettle plant (Urtica dioica), grown without synthetic pesticides. The leaves are dried, which neutralises their sting completely, and are used to make a popular, earthy herbal tea.

What does Nettle tea taste like?

Nettle tea has a deep, earthy, and full-bodied 'green' flavour. It's not bitter, but rather smooth and herbaceous, similar to a rich spinach broth or a Japanese green tea.

Safety icon

Does dried Organic Nettle Leaf sting?

No. The 'sting' from the fresh plant (caused by tiny hairs containing formic acid) is completely neutralised by the drying process. Our dried Nettle Leaf is perfectly safe to handle and brew, and has no sting.

How do you make Nettle tea from the dried leaf?

To make a herbal infusion, use 1-2 teaspoons of the dried leaves per cup. Pour over hot (not boiling) water and cover the cup. Steeping it covered for 5-10 minutes traps the volatile oils and flavours. Strain and serve.

Comparison icon

What is the difference between Nettle Leaf and Nettle Root?

They are two different parts of the plant used for different purposes. The leaf (this product) is used for teas and as a 'green' food. The root is a tough, woody material that is typically ground or used in tinctures for different traditional reasons.

Why choose Organic Nettle?

Nettle is a 'bio-accumulator,' meaning it readily absorbs everything from the soil it grows in. Choosing organic ensures the plant was grown in clean, tested soil without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, resulting in a pure, high-quality product.
