About
Our St. Mary's Thistle Seeds, also known as Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum), are the whole, dried fruits of the striking purple thistle. These hard, dark seeds are prized in traditional European herbalism and are famously associated with liver health. They contain the active compound complex, Silymarin.
As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.
Directions of Use
The seeds are very hard; they must be ground to be used effectively.
1. Using a coffee or spice grinder, grind the whole seeds into a coarse or fine powder.
2. As a tea: Add 1-2 teaspoons of the ground powder to a cup of hot water. Steep for 10-15 minutes, then strain through a fine filter (like a paper filter or muslin cloth).
3. In smoothies: Add 1 teaspoon of the ground powder directly into your daily smoothie.
4. The powder can also be encapsulated or sprinkled over muesli or yoghurt.
5. Safety: Do not use if you have an allergy to the Asteraceae (daisy/ragweed) family.
