About

Our Lemongrass Cut is the dried, chopped stalks of Cymbopogon citratus. A staple of Southeast Asian cuisine and a popular herbal tea, it is prized for its refreshing, zesty, and citrusy flavour without the acidity of lemon.

As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.

Directions of Use

1. For Tea: Use 1-2 teaspoons per cup (250ml). Pour over hot (not boiling) water.

2. Steep covered for 5-10 minutes. Covering the cup traps the fragrant citrus oils.

3. For Cooking: Add a tablespoon or two directly to simmering soups, curries (like Tom Yum), or stocks to infuse.

4. The dried pieces are tough, so they should be strained out before serving or placed in a muslin bag.

5. Can also be used to infuse marinades or simple syrups.

What is Lemongrass Cut?

Lemongrass Cut is the dried, chopped stalks and leaves of the lemongrass plant (Cymbopogon citratus). It is a staple herb in Southeast Asian cooking and is also widely used to make a refreshing, citrusy herbal tea.

Flavour icon

What does Lemongrass taste like?

Lemongrass has a bright, zesty, and refreshing lemon flavour, but with a complex, herbaceous undertone. Unlike actual lemon, it is not sour or acidic, making it perfect for adding a clean citrus aroma to dishes.

Cooking icon

How do you use Dried Lemongrass Cut?

Dried lemongrass is best for infusions. For tea, steep 1-2 teaspoons in hot water for 5-10 minutes. For cooking, add the dried pieces to simmering soups, stocks, or curries (like Tom Yum) to release their flavour, then strain them out before serving.

Comparison icon

Is Dried Lemongrass as good as fresh?

They are used differently. Fresh lemongrass is pliable and can be pounded into curry pastes. Dried lemongrass (this product) is more convenient, shelf-stable, and is perfectly suited for infusions like teas and soups, where it fully rehydrates and releases its flavour.

Lemon balm icon

Is Lemongrass the same as Lemon Balm or Lemon Verbena?

No. They are three different plants. Lemongrass is a tropical grass with a sharp citrus scent. Lemon Balm is in the mint family and has a softer, minty-lemon flavour. Lemon Verbena is a shrub with a very strong, perfumed, sherbet-like lemon scent.

Caffeine-free icon

Is Lemongrass tea caffeine-free?

Yes, Lemongrass is a herbal tea (tisane) and is 100% naturally caffeine-free. It's a popular, refreshing beverage that can be enjoyed at any time of day or night.
