Certified Organic Lavender Flowers — Lavandula angustifolia, Albania

Certified Organic Lavender Flowers (Lavandula angustifolia) — the dried flower buds of true lavender, sourced from certified organic cultivation in Albania. Lavandula angustifolia (also known as English lavender or true lavender) is the botanically and commercially superior lavender species for culinary, tea, and high-quality fragrance applications — its essential oil profile is more refined and less camphor-dominant than hybrid lavandin varieties, producing the classic, deep, sweet, intensely floral lavender character that is the benchmark for culinary-grade dried lavender. Albania's highland growing conditions are well-suited to lavender cultivation, and the certified organic status of this product means it is suitable for certified organic product labelling.

The dried flower buds retain a strong, characteristic lavender aroma and are suitable for a wide range of culinary, tea, cosmetic, distillery, and decorative applications. Certified organic. No known allergens. Naturally caffeine-free. Available in 250g, 500g, and 5kg bulk — note: 1kg is not available in this SKU. Volume discount of 5% applies for orders of 20+ units. This product is sold as a food only.

Certified Organic Lavender Flowers — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Lavender is a versatile and widely used culinary herb, though its intensity means it must be used sparingly to avoid an overwhelmingly floral or soapy character. Baking: lavender shortbread, lavender scones, lavender honey cake, and lavender-infused crème brûlée are all classic applications — use 1–2 teaspoons of dried flowers per standard recipe as a starting point. Lavender sugar: seal dried flowers with caster sugar for 1–2 weeks to produce a fragrant lavender sugar for baking, beverages, and confectionery. Chocolate: lavender and dark chocolate is one of the most enduring and successful flavour pairings in confectionery — incorporate into ganache, truffles, and chocolate bark. Condiments and dressings: infuse into olive oil or honey; use in Herbes de Provence spice blends; add to vinaigrettes for salads. Savoury cooking: lavender pairs well with lamb, duck, and game meats — use very sparingly in rubs and marinades.
Lavender is a popular botanical inclusion in premium tea blends, though it should be used as a supporting note rather than a dominant ingredient — too much lavender in a tea blend can produce an overwhelmingly floral, almost soapy character. As a standalone tea: steep ½–1 teaspoon of dried lavender in hot water (90°C) for 5–7 minutes; cover the cup to retain the volatile aromatic oils. Sweeten lightly with honey if desired. In blends: lavender pairs beautifully with chamomile (a classic combination), lemon balm, linden flower, rose petals, and passionflower for floral and calming evening tea formulations. It also works well as a minor note in Earl Grey-style blends alongside bergamot peel. A small quantity — 5–10% by weight in a blend — is typically sufficient to deliver lavender character without overwhelming the other ingredients.
Distillery: lavender is a premium botanical in craft gin and botanical spirits formulations — it contributes a distinctive floral character that is one of the most recognisable botanicals alongside juniper. Use as part of a botanical mix in the still or for cold infusion into base spirit. The Lavandula angustifolia species is preferred for distillery use over hybrid lavandin varieties for its more refined, less camphor-dominant essential oil profile. Cosmetics and bath: the certified organic status makes this product suitable for certified organic cosmetic formulations. Applications include infused oils for skincare, bath soaks and salts, botanical sachets, potpourri, and natural fragrance. Lavender-infused oil is produced by macerating dried flowers in a carrier oil (jojoba, sunflower) for 4–6 weeks in sunlight, or by warm extraction. The certified organic version is required for certified organic cosmetic labelling.
The HC lavender range covers three distinct products. Lavender Flowers Organic (HTO.LAVK1) — this product: certified organic Lavandula angustifolia from Albania; the premium culinary and certified organic choice. Lavender Flowers (HT.LAVK) — conventional (non-organic) lavender at a more accessible price point for applications where certification is not required. Lavender Flowers Blue — sourced from France, a different variety or growing region known for a particularly vivid blue-violet colour; premium visual presentation for tea blends and decoration. Lavender Flowers Powder — freshly milled lavender for baking, confectionery coatings, and applications requiring a fine dispersible format. For certified organic product labelling, this Albanian organic product (HTO.LAVK1) is the appropriate choice. Contact our office to confirm current availability across the full range.
Yes — too much lavender is one of the most common errors in culinary and tea blending use. The aromatic compounds in lavender are intense and the flavour can quickly shift from pleasantly floral to overwhelmingly soapy or medicinal if the quantity is excessive. As a guide: in baking, start with 1 teaspoon per standard recipe (serves 8–12) and increase cautiously on subsequent batches. In tea blends, lavender typically works best at 5–10% by weight of the total blend — higher proportions tend to dominate. In distillery, use lavender as a minor botanical alongside a broader mix — it can easily dominate the profile if over-used. In savoury cooking, treat lavender as you would rosemary — one sprig or ¼ teaspoon is typically sufficient per serving. When in doubt, start with less than you think you need and adjust upward.
