Jasmine Tea Buds — Organically Grown Jasminum sambac

Jasmine Tea Buds (Jasminum sambac) — the small, whole dried flower buds of Arabian jasmine, organically grown in China. Jasminum sambac (Arabian jasmine) is the jasmine species with the most intensely fragrant flowers in the genus — the same variety used in the traditional Chinese process for scenting jasmine tea, in South-East Asian garlands and ceremonies, and as the basis for some of the world's most celebrated fine fragrances. The dried buds concentrate all of that extraordinary fragrance into a compact, shelf-stable form: intensely sweet, warm, exotic, and richly floral — heady and opulent rather than light and green.

Jasmine tea buds are a distinct product from jasmine-scented tea — they are pure dried buds with no tea leaf content and are therefore naturally caffeine-free. They can be used as a standalone floral tea, blended into premium tea formulations for fragrance and visual appeal, incorporated into culinary applications, and used as a botanical in gin and spirits distillation. Organically grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers but not formally certified organic — the HTO prefix reflects organic growing practices rather than a formal certification. No known allergens. Available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk. This product is sold as a food only.

Jasmine Tea Buds — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

These are two distinct products. Jasmine tea buds (this product) are whole dried jasmine flower buds with no tea leaf content — they are a pure botanical ingredient that is naturally caffeine-free. They can be brewed as a standalone floral tisane or blended with other botanicals. Jasmine green tea is green tea leaves that have been traditionally scented with jasmine flowers (typically by layering fresh jasmine blossoms with green tea leaves overnight so the tea absorbs the fragrance) — it contains Camellia sinensis tea leaves and therefore contains caffeine. Jasmine green tea delivers the classic jasmine-green tea character most people associate with Asian tea culture; jasmine buds provide a pure, undiluted jasmine floral experience without any tea or caffeine component.
Use 1–2 teaspoons (approximately 3–5 buds) per cup. Pour water at around 85–90°C — slightly below boiling — over the buds. Cover the cup and steep for 5–10 minutes; covering traps the volatile aromatic compounds that would otherwise escape with the steam. The buds will gently unfurl as they hydrate, releasing the jasmine fragrance into the water. Strain and enjoy — the tea brews pale to a very light gold and the fragrance is notably stronger than the flavour. Jasmine bud tea is elegant served on its own, with a small amount of honey, or chilled over ice. The steeped buds can typically be re-steeped once or twice as they continue to release fragrance with subsequent infusions.
Premium tea blending: jasmine buds are an exceptional visual and aromatic inclusion in premium loose-leaf blends — they provide a striking visual element alongside green, white, or herbal teas and contribute intense fragrance to the blend. Culinary: infuse into custards, panna cotta, cream, simple syrups, and cocktail mixers for jasmine flavour; press onto the surface of handmade chocolates and petit fours as decoration; incorporate into rice and grain dishes for aromatic depth (a traditional use in some South-East Asian cuisines). Distillery: jasmine is a classic botanical in premium gin formulations — the buds add an intense, aromatic floral note to the spirit. Confectionery: jasmine-infused ganache, icing, and marshmallow. Fragrance: include in potpourri, bath salts, and botanical sachets.
Organically grown means the jasmine is cultivated without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilisers — organic farming practices are followed at the farm level. Not certified means the producer has not undergone the formal third-party annual auditing process by an accredited certifying body that would confer an official organic certification with documented chain of custody. The practical difference: the growing standards are equivalent to organic in terms of synthetic input avoidance, but the formal certification paperwork that would allow a product to be labelled "Certified Organic" on retail or wholesale packaging is not in place. For buyers who require certified organic documentation for their own product labelling requirements, this product is not appropriate — contact our office to discuss alternative certified options. For buyers where organic growing practices are preferred but formal certification is not a labelling requirement, this product provides the quality benefits of organic cultivation.
The HC jasmine range includes Jasmine Green Tea Organic — certified organic jasmine-scented green tea (check current availability) — and Jasmine Green Tea Organic 100-pack Pyramid Tea Bags (biodegradable Soilon material) for hospitality and retail applications where a ready-to-use tea bag format is required. The jasmine buds listed here are the pure botanical ingredient for blending, culinary, and distillery applications. A related premium tea in the range is White Tea Organic – Single Bud Silver Needle from Fujian, China, which pairs beautifully with jasmine buds in a premium floral white tea blend.
The standard sizes listed — 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg — are our regular stocked wholesale pack sizes, but The Herbal Connection is a wholesale supplier and can accommodate bulk orders well beyond these standard sizes. Whether you are a tea blender, craft distillery, food manufacturer, confectionery producer, health food retailer, or large-scale buyer with ongoing volume requirements, we can discuss pricing and supply arrangements to suit your needs.
