Our Organic Caraway Seed (Carum carvi) brings warm, nutty and subtly anise-like flavour to breads, pickles and savoury dishes. Sold strictly as a food product with no therapeutic claims.

As always, it's advisable to consult with healthcare professionals for personalised guidance on health concerns.

Directions of Use

1. Lightly toast whole seeds in a dry pan until fragrant.

2. Use whole for texture or grind just before use to release aromatic oils.

3. Add to rye bread, sauerkraut, pickles, roasted veg, curries and spice rubs.

4. For a simple brew, crush 1–2 tsp and steep in near-boiling water for 5–10 minutes; strain.

5. Adjust to taste; a little goes a long way.

Caraway tea icon

How do I brew caraway tea?

Lightly crush 1–2 tsp seeds, steep in near-boiling water for 5–10 minutes, strain. Adjust strength to taste.

Grinding icon

Whole vs ground—what’s best?

Whole seeds keep flavour longer. Grind just before use for breads, rubs and teas to release aromatic oils.

Cooking icon

What does caraway taste like and how is it used?

Warm, earthy, slightly sweet with anise-citrus notes. Classic in rye bread, pickles, sauerkraut, goulash and roasted veg.

Compare spices icon

Is caraway the same as cumin or fennel?

No—distinct spice. Caraway is earthier than fennel and less smoky than cumin; not a direct substitute.

Measurement icon

How much caraway should I use?

Start with ½–1 tsp per loaf, jar or dish; increase gradually. Caraway is potent—small amounts go a long way.

Storage icon

How should I store caraway seeds?

Keep sealed, cool and dry, away from light and heat. Grind only as needed to maintain freshness.
