As always, we recommend trying a small amount if you have never had Yerba Mate before, everyone can react differently to herbs and spices.

Benefits

1. Energy BoostYerba mate contains caffeine, providing a gentle and sustained energy boost without the abrupt crashes often associated with coffee or energy drinks. The roasting process can mellow the bitterness, making it a smoother option for those sensitive to caffeine.

2. Antioxidant-Rich: Yerba mate is packed with antioxidants, such as polyphenols and flavonoids, which help combat free radicals in the body and support overall health.

3. Mental Clarity: Many users report increased mental alertness and focus when consuming yerba mate, thanks to its caffeine content combined with other naturally occurring compounds like theobromine and theophylline.

Directions of Use

1. All Tea Bags contain 2g of tea each. For a cup of Yerba Mate Roasted Chai 1-2 tea bags is recommended, for a teapot between 4-6 tea bags are recommended.

2. Heat water to the recommended temperature of 65-70°C. Avoid using boiling water, as it can make the yerba mate bitter. Pour the hot water over the tea bag in your cup or teapot.

3. Allow the yerba mate blend to steep in the hot water for about 3-5 minutes. The longer you steep it, the stronger the flavour will be.

4. Enjoy! You can usually re-infuse the same yerba mate leaves at least once or twice, although each infusion may have a slightly different flavour profile. Feel free to add some honey or milk for extra flavour.

We also have this blend available in Bulk Loose Leaf form if you wish to use a strainer instead.

Yerba Mate Roasted Chai Organic Bulk Tea Bags — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis) is a South American plant traditionally consumed as a stimulating beverage. Roasted Yerba Mate undergoes an additional roasting process after drying, which mellows the naturally grassy, bitter notes of green Yerba Mate and introduces a deeper, smokier, more earthy flavour profile — closer in character to a roasted grain or coffee than a green herbal tea. Both varieties are naturally caffeinated.
Yes — this blend contains caffeine. Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis) is naturally caffeinated. This blend is not suitable for those avoiding caffeine, and is best suited to morning or daytime consumption. If you are new to Yerba Mate, we recommend starting with one bag to gauge your individual response.
Yes. The Roasted Yerba Mate is certified organic, and is combined with our HC Chai Spice Mix — a blend developed in-house at The Herbal Connection. The product is made from 100% imported certified organic ingredients, blended on the Gold Coast. The Herbal Connection is a Certified Organic business.
Yes. Our Yerba Mate Roasted Chai tea bags are made from food grade biodegradable pyramid bag material. Unlike conventional nylon pyramid bags, the material breaks down naturally and is suitable for composting — one of the most eco-responsible choices available for pyramid-style tea bags in Australia.
No — absolutely none. Our pyramid tea bags are sealed using a heat-bonding process only, with no adhesives or glue at any point in the production. This keeps the bag entirely food-safe and free from any chemical residues that can sometimes be associated with glue-sealed bags.
The ingredients are imported as certified organic and blended in-house at The Herbal Connection on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. We are proudly Certified Organic and operate from our own 5-Star Eat Safe licensed facility, ensuring every batch is produced under strict food safety standards from start to finish.
For best results, heat water to 65–70°C — avoid boiling water as it can make the Yerba Mate bitter and over-extract the spices. Use 1–2 bags per cup or 4–6 bags per teapot. Steep for 3–5 minutes, adjusting for strength. You can re-infuse the bags once or twice for a lighter, different flavour profile on subsequent steeps. Honey or milk can be added. Store below 23°C in a dark, airtight container.
Absolutely. The 100-pack is our standard café and retail quantity. For larger wholesale volumes or contract tea bag packing under your own brand, please contact our office directly. We offer private label and contract packing services from our Gold Coast facility. A maximum of 10 packs can be purchased via the website; beyond that, reach out for a tailored quote.
For best results, store Yerba Mate Roasted Chai tea bags below 23°C in a dark location, ideally in an airtight container. The chai spices are particularly aromatic and benefit from airtight storage to preserve their fragrance. When stored correctly, the bags maintain their quality for the full shelf life of 2+ years, as indicated on the batch label.
Yes. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse. Orders placed online are dispatched promptly, and wholesale clients can arrange regular standing orders through our office. For international shipping or freight-forward enquiries, please get in touch directly via our Contact Us page.
