Breathe Easy Blend — FAQs

Everything you need to know before you order.

Is this blend for horses or humans?

This is an equine herbal blend from The Herbal Connection's horse range. While the individual botanicals are herbs used in both human and animal herbal traditions, this product is formulated and sized for equine feeding. For the human tea bag version of Breathe Easy, please see our Breathe Easy Blend Tea Bags. Always consult a veterinarian before introducing any herbal supplement to your horse's regime.

What is Mullein and what is its traditional background?

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a tall, woolly-leafed plant native to Europe and Asia that has naturalised widely across Australia and North America. Its large, soft leaves have been used in European and Native American herbal traditions for centuries, most often associated with respiratory wellness. It has a mild, slightly sweet flavour and has been consumed as a tea and used topically in folk medicine across many cultures.

What is Marshmallow Root used for traditionally?

Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis) has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, and is one of the most widely recognised soothing herbs in the Western herbal tradition. The root is particularly rich in mucilage — a gel-like substance that coats and soothes mucous membranes when consumed as a tea or infusion. It has a mild, slightly sweet, earthy flavour.

Why is Fenugreek included in an equine blend?

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world, with records of its use dating back to ancient Egypt and India. It has a distinctive sweet, maple-like aroma and flavour that makes it a popular palatability enhancer for horses — many horses find it highly appealing, which is why it features in equine blends where encouraging uptake is important. It has also been used in traditional herbal medicine for humans across Asia and the Middle East for thousands of years.

What roles do Peppermint and Nettle play in this blend?

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has a long history of use in both human and animal herbal traditions — its strong, cooling menthol character is well-known in European and Middle Eastern herbalism, and it is commonly fed to horses for its palatability and aromatic qualities. Nettle (Urtica dioica) is one of the most nutritionally dense herbs available, rich in minerals, and has been used in traditional herbal practice across Europe and Asia for over 2,000 years.

How are Rosehips used in equine feeding?

Rosehips are the seed pods of the rose plant (Rosa canina and related species), harvested after the petals fall. They are one of the richest plant sources of Vitamin C found in nature and have been used in European herbal and food traditions for centuries — in syrups, teas, jams, and tinctures. In equine feeding they are a popular, palatable addition, with horses generally taking well to their mildly sweet, fruity flavour.

What sizes are available and can I order wholesale?

Breathe Easy Blend is available in 250g, 500g, 1kg, and 5kg bulk packs. The 5kg option is a bulk pack, not individual units. For larger volumes or wholesale enquiries, please contact our office directly. We ship Australia-wide from our Gold Coast warehouse.

How should I store this blend?

Store below 23°C in a cool, dry, dark location in an airtight container. Peppermint is highly aromatic and will absorb surrounding odours if exposed — seal the container tightly after each use. When stored correctly the blend maintains its quality for 2+ years from production.
